Deception?

Here's a great article by a Canadian scientist who claims that Global Warming is the greatest deception in the history of science. Check it ou!

kevin,
i have taken many classes about global warming and looked at the data firsthand. i have attempted to argue (in presentations, in class) that global warming is a myth and that the world will be fine if we continue to proceed as we have. however, the data in support of the idea that global warming is a serious problem is absolutely overwhelming. there is not a single valid argument that disputes the hypothesis that global temperatures have increased in correlation to the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. there is only one prominent scientist who supports the idea that gw is a myth, and he is generally disregarded by the scientific community. i was not able to view the article that you linked, but i would like to read it (please email me the text: mlu2102@columbia.edu)! if you are interested in reviewing first-hand data about the levels of greenhouse gases in correlation with global temperature throughout the history of the planet, you should read "the two mile time machine" by richard alley. the data is truly indisputable and, if you read it, i think you might have a more sympathetic view toward my position! If you aren’t interested in reading the entire book, this is a good starting point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Carbon_Dioxide_400kyr-2.png. However, it’s a very controversial and complex issue, and if you want to gain a truly comprehensive analysis that addressed both the supporters and dissenters, ayou have to read the whole book!

Micah,
Thanks for the post! I'm not certain why you were unable to view the article I linked...it's working for me. I don't disagree with the theory of global warming. However, I do disagree with alternative views being shut out from consideration in the scientific community (a scary resemblance to what happens to any scientist that dares to attempt to contradic evolution) I've not read the information that you linked, but will. I'm trying to gather as much information as is possible and profitable while I develop an opinion on the matter.

I would argue, though, with your contention that "there is only one prominent scientist who supports the idea that gw is a myth, and he is generally disregarded by the scientific community." While I can't name all of the scientists who disagree with global warming off of the top of my head, one that does come to mind is University of Colorado climatologists Dr. Bill Gray (the well-respected hurricane predicter)--hardly an uncredible source.

One other note--it is important for the American people to understand that different science disciplines have different models of approching the same subject. For instance, as I'm sure you're aware, meteorologists and physicists look at the atmosphere and climate using different approaches (static vs fluid, mesoscale vs microscale, etc) to science and thus there is disagreement amongst the two fields about global warming.

So, I don't disbelieve in global warming, I'm just not ready to buy into an idea with so much widespread scientific disagreement.
